Komputer kuantum adalah sebuah alat hitung yang menggunakan atau memanfaatkan suatu kejadian mekanika kuantum seperti keterkaitan dan superposisi untuk melaksanakan operasi data.
Dalam komputer kuantum tidak hanya dikenal angka biner 0 dan 1, tetapi ada juga swuperposisi yaitu keadaan dimana bisa 0 dan 1.
Komputer kuantum tidak menggunakan Bits tetapi QUBITS (Quantum Bits).
karena kemampuannya untuk berada di bermacam keadaan (multiple states), komputer kuantum memiliki potensi untuk melaksanakan berbagai perhitungan secara simultan sehingga jauh lebih cepat dari komputer digital.
sebuah kumputer kuantum dapat melakukan simulasi terhadap sebuah proses yang tidak dapat dijalankan oleh komputer klasik.
